 Collie Subway to close tomorrow

Collie Subway to close tomorrow

25 Jun, 2009 01:00 PM
COLLIE’S Subway workers will lose their jobs when the takeaway sandwich restaurant closes on Friday.

"It’s never usually busy in the winter but this year it has been worse," a worker said.

"We’ve also had competition since Prime Wok opened."

Employees said they were upset about being told of the impending closure only on Monday, when they should have been given two weeks’ notice. Some said they were unsure where they would find work.

The international chain which boasts 31223 "eat fresh" restaurants in 90 countries has been operating in Collie for nearly three years.

The outlet is jointly owned by the franchisee and two quarter owners.

I'm not surprised, the service at this Subway has always been terrible. From the sign, visible driving in to Collie, saying the franchise opens at 7.30am (where it never does), to the miserable staff who treat customers as annoyances. So, the staff are unsure where they will find work, let us all hope they don't find employment in any of the service/retail sectors!
