DESPITE its current financial difficulties Griffin Coal is proceeding with the construction of stages three and four of Bluewaters Power Station.
Masterplan Town Planning Consultants last week submitted a proposal to Collie Shire Council to modify the Coolangatta Industrial Estate Structure Plan.
The modification will accommodate the proposed expansion of
Bluewaters Power Station with two more 229 megawatt power plants. The proposal is being advertised for public comment for 21 days.
The proposed plan modification can be viewed at the Shire of Collie office, Collie Public Library or on the Shire of Collie website at www.collie.wa.gov.au.
Anyone who wants to make comment on the plan should do so in writing before close of business on Thursday, March 18.
Enquiries can be directed to shire planner Andrew Watts on 9734 9000. Mr Watts said yesterday that no submissions had been received to date.
Griffin Coal went into voluntary administration in January. KordaMentha was appointed as the administrator and has been running the Griffin businesses for the past couple of months.
It has stated that it has as many as “20 serious players” interested in the purchase of Griffin’s assets, which include coal mines and power stations.
The Collie Mail attempted to get comment from KordaMentha on the Bluewaters expansion proposal but was unable to do so before going to press.
