SMOKE blanketing Collie , Walpole, Pemberton, Manjimup, Northcliffe, Bridgetown, Nannup and surrounding areas is due to a bushfire still burning south-east of Northcliffe.
“People with conditions exacerbated by smoke should take precautions in line with their medical advice for these circumstances,” the Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC) advised.
Smoke blanketed the fire zone Sunday and was expected to drift northwards and be visible throughout the south coast, great southern, south-west and in Perth and surrounds.
Yesterday smoke was affecting the Muir Highway, South-West Highway, Vasse Highway, Wheatley Coast Road and Pemberton-Northcliffe Road.
Smoke remains visible around Rocky Gully and Mount Barker.
“Motorists should take care, turn on headlights and travel at appropriate speeds when travelling in these areas.
Public briefings on the Borthcliffen fire are being held at Windy Harbour and Northcliffe this morning (Monday).
