Year one for experienced teacher

02 Feb, 2012 09:39 AM
IT WAS a nervous time for many children yesterday as they started the new school year.

It was also a nerve-racking time for local teacher Leanne Fyfe, who took on her first year one class after nearly 20 years of teaching.

Ms Fyfe, who has taught at Amaroo for four years, said she was given the year one class as she is undertaking early childhood studies.

“I am very excited about having the year ones, but I am nervous,” she said.

Year one student Deegan Cummings said he was excited and had been counting down the days until school started.
