COLLIE lost to Marist by 22 runs at Forrest Park on Saturday in the team’s first loss since joining the Bunbury and Districts Cricket Association.
After Marist won the toss and chose to bat, Collie got off to a good start when Paul Bebbington had Murphy caught at first slip.
Another wicket fell with the score on 23 when Brad Strike took a good cathc off the bowling of Warwick Ferris. That was the first of three catches Strike took during the day.
Jared McCormack put on a good stand before getting out, but wickets continued to fall until Tomasi and Waddington came to the crease.
The game began to get away from Collie as Tomasi and Waddington pushed the score to 170.
The final two batsmen were able to reach a score of 192 for 9.
Jayden Williamson with 3 for 26 was the best bowler of the day.
Paul Bebbington with 3 for 45 and Rhett Williamson with 2 for 45 also put in a good effort.
The team put in a gallant effort against a good attack in making 9 for 170, with opener Greg Tomasini top scoring with 46.
Todd Snelgar and Paul Bebbington, batting down the order, both contributed 21.
