THE Collie Men’s Hockey Association will attempt to hold its annual general meeting next Wednesday, November 2 to elect new committee members and discuss its future.
The association has attempted on two previous occasions to hold its annual general meeting and on both occasions has been unable to attract a president and subsequently fill the roles of the committee.
CMHA secretary Chad Latham said it was disappointing not to have been able to elect a president and committee for the 2010 season.
“The response by past and present players to come along to the AGM and have their say and influence the direction of the association has been poor,” he said.
“We are certainly at a critical point in terms of managing the future direction of the association and I am concerned that if the members of the men’s hockey fraternity do not come out and support the future of hockey in Collie then we will be forced into a position of not being able to run our competitions.”
“I would encourage all past and present players to come along to the reconvened AGM and discuss the way forward for Collie men’s hockey.
“There are challenges ahead but at the same time some exciting projects in the pipeline if we can get people to commit to Collie hockey.
“We need to consider the juniors and what repercussions will eventuate for them if we don’t have a structure and competitions. I know it is difficult for many people to get involved but with lots of people making small contributions, I am sure we can resolve any issues and have a positive future.”
Wednesday’s meeting is at the hockey complex on Preston Road at 7.30pm.
