Little Athletics
THE Little Athletics country championships will be held this weekend in Kalgoorlie.
There are 26 athletes from Collie nominated for the event which represents about one third of the club.
The final competition in Collie before the big event was last Saturday, and records were broken across the board.
Jarred Dowdell in under 12s broke three on his own in 200m, 60m hurdles and triple jump.
Jarrod Vickers set a new shot put record in under 12s.
Emma Dowdell in under 16s took time off the 90m hurdles record.
Jake and Dylan Timms also set records with Jake putting his name to the under 15 800ms plus the 90m and 200m hurdles.
Dylan broke the under 17 200m record.
Alyssa Davidson is the new record holder for under 8s shot put.
The under 13s showed huge improvements also with all setting personal best’s in high jump.
Reina Yokoi, in what would be her last competition before heading back to Japan, set her own personal bests in discus and 800m.
In the under nine age group, Teya Hollins showed what a new pair of shoes could do for her and she ran a great 200m hurdles setting a new personal best also.
