ULTRA fast racing cars, exotic imports and local products are expected at the Collie Motorplex on February 27 and 28.
They will be here for rounds two and three of the LF Performance Speed Event Series.
The back-to-back rounds are a highlight in a championship series that traverses much of the South West.
Both event formats will be run during the weekend -— a hill climb on Saturday and a super sprint on Sunday.
All entrants get a number of runs and the aim is to set the quickest time possible.
Saturday features a hill climb at one of only two permanent courses in the state which is the newly named Phil’s Hill at the rear of the Collie circuit.
The 2.35km course places a premium on traction and horsepower with last years winner James Eames reaching speeds of more than 240km/h in his Skyline GT-R.
On Sunday entrants will tackle the Collie circuit for a super sprint.
The circuit is a favourite of drivers and the layout requires nimble handling and good corner speed.
Once again the object is to set the quickest lap time. Peter Morley won last year in a British built OMS RA open wheeler averaging 136km/h around the tight and twisting track, stopping the clocks in an impressive 46.34 seconds.
A diverse field of more than 70 cars is expected ranging from standard to highly modified.
Local drivers as well as those from around Western Australia are entered and all will compete for class and outright honours with points going towards the series championship.
Competition for both events is scheduled to start at 10am and will continue into the afternoon.
Entry for spectators is free and food and drinks will be available at the circuit.
