BOYUP Brook’s Ian Tweedie trumped the locals to win the Golf Downunder Stableford event held at the Collie Golf Club last Saturday.
“Tweeds” picked the perfect day to fire up with the Boyup Brook regulars changing their normal routine to put on a barbecue treat for the 63 players in the field.
His score of 41 points resulted in a two point victory.
After a mediocre start, Troy Sheppard sliced his way through the opposition to record 39 points for the runner-up trophy.
Sheppard’s card included a five point bonus on 17, helping him to a count-back clinching last nine score over a trio of players.
Fred Bronickis snatched third on a further count-back from Brad Swan and Ian Shannon.
Des Hebb was next with 38 points followed by Bryan Simpson, Darren Morfitt and Warren Harrison-Brown on 37 points.
All on 36 points were rewarded. Those players were Ash Hollins, Trevor Lawrence, Simon Purse, John Kenna, Rob Sherwood and Barry Price.
Betty White was rewarded for her consistent summer with a win in the associates event. White returned 36 points to win over Nancy Lynn on 33 points.
Paul Woolstencroft, Steve Ireland and Betty White won nearest the pins.
Long Putts went to Brad Swan and Peter Gray. Ash Hollins took the long drive.

Darren Morfitt recorded a good win in the scroungers competition last Thursday.
The “Wild Thing” tallied 22 points for a narrow victory over Greg Martin on 21 points.
Dave Henderson finished third with 20 points followed by Kevin Ireland, Eric Annandale, Bryan Simpson and Lou Lukowiak who all scored 19 points.
June Pike had the best associates card with 20 points.
Les McGill, Jeff Crowe and Dave Henderson won the novelties.

Jeff Crowe and Des Hebb tied with 29 points in the 14-hole veterans competition last week.
Crowe took the major share of the awards on a spin. Alf Sanford and Neil McDonald made up the top four on 28 points each.

Jay Robinson posted 39 points to win the leisure day competition last week. Keith Russell was next best on 35 points.

Debbie Van Vollenstee eclipsed the small field in the Sunday scroungers competition.
Van Vollenstee tallied 23 points to take bragging rights over husband Jan who made it a family quinella with his score of 20 points in the combined event.

Scroungers will be on as normal today. Saturday is an 18-hole par event for the Malatesta Brothers Day.
Leisure day and veterans will be played as usual on Tuesday.
