HUGH Annandale proved too strong to take out Saturday’s New Year club trophy stableford event.
Hugh compiled 42 points with a solid round of golf in what were at times hot and humid conditions.
The runner–up position was decided by a count back with Jay Robinson edging out Ian Purse both on 40 points.
Leigh Clark, Dean Crowe, Ken McCamish and Mark Sugget also scored well for 38 points.
Les Marsden and Alan Savage followed next with another good score of 37. Phil Warburton put in another consistent performance to finish with 36 points while Simone Boccia, Dave Brunswick, Jim Hine and Peter Wutchak rounded out the vouchers with 35 points.
Shelly Barker-May finished with 36 points winning the women’s competition followed by Margaret Pike on 35 points.
Novelty winners were: nearest to pin – Dave Brunswick (4), Vicki Graham (7), and Joe Italiano (14). Longest first putt – Simone Boccia (6), Neil McDonald (18). Longest drive – Leigh Clark (15).

Eric Annandale was back on the winners list in Thursday’s scroungers event with 24 points edging out Paul Moyses with 21 points, closely followed by George Newlands, Mike Daley, Kim Metcalfe and Rob Cavanaugh all finishing with 20 points.
Novelties were won by Denis Cocker, John Michalak and David Broadbent.

This Saturday’s event is the New Years Cup 18-hole stroke event sponsored by Alan Kent.
Scroungers is on today as usual, also Sunday scroungers with vets and leisure days next Tuesday.
