ACCOMPLISHED young sportsman Alex Tweedie won Saturday's first round of the club championship, sponsored by Denis Cocker.
Tweedie posted a nett 70 round, edging out three other golfers, all scoring 71 nett.
Big hitting Chris Shea was the runner up on a countback from Ron Annandale and Ray Cooper.
On 73 nett were Greg Bell, Clayton Flynn, Trevor Lawrence and Rodney Miller, followed by Jim Moyses and Clive Pullan, each with 74 nett.
Kyle Hulls, Alan Kent and Jay Robinson returned 75 nett, while Ray Alp, Peter Ellery and Ian Stewart each finished with 76.
Winning the gross trophy, on a countback, Garry Beard achieved 80 shots off the stick.
The novelty awards for nearest the pins went to Trevor Lawrence (seventh) and Greg Bell (14th) while the longest first putts were Alan Kent (sixth) and Ben Kononen (18th).
Round two of the club championships, played last Sunday, resulted in a win to Geoff Lee with a 71 nett.
He has returned to the Collie Golf Club after a couple of years absence from town and it was good to see him in fine form again.
Runner up was vice captain Dean Rakich, on 72 nett followed in third place by David Laird on 73 nett.
Greg Bell, Trevor Lawrence and Chris Stewart again played consistent golf for 74 nett scores, while Garry Beard was again to the fore with his 75 nett.
Special mention to Leon Moran for his exciting chip in eagle on the par five first hole.
Rodney Miller has been in good form recently and last Thursday's scroungers competition was no exception.
The low marker shot a fine round of 21 stableford points to win the event from runner up Rod Simmonds, on 18 points, with a further shot back to Graham Williams in third place.
Novelties were won by Kevin Ireland (fourth), Ron Annandale (sixth) and Jim Hine (ninth).
Rod Miller also took out the day's gross honours with 37 off the stick.
A small leisure day field last Tuesday resulted in a win to recent retiree Joe Italiano with 33 stableford points.
In a day of modest scores, Danny Cheng was runner up on a countback, with 31 points.
Dave Brunswick won last Tuesday's vets competition with a 29 point total.
Ed Riley was runner up on a countback over Trevor Graham, in third place.
Both finished with 26 points.
In fourth place, on 25 points, was omnipotent Fred Garofano.
Novelties went to George Davis (fourth), Jim Hine (sixth) and John Wray (ninth and 18th).
This week will be an 18 hole 4BBB stableford sponsored by Leigh and Mat Bernardi.

Rounds three and four of the club championship continue next weekend, August 31 and September 1.
The club's AGM is at 9am in the clubrooms on Sunday.
