WHILE My Kitchen Rules contestant and former Mandurah girl Chloe James is being portrayed as a villain on the hit television show, family members are hitting back and supporting the girl they only know as ‘gorgeous’.
Chloe and team-mate Kelly Ramsay have been copping a barrage of abuse following episodes of the series which show them as hyper-critical of fellow contestants.
Social media sites have gone close to meltdown with negative comments about the Perth pair dominating airwaves and print media.
But those close to Chloe say they are hurt by the comments and blame show producers for manipulating footage of the WA team to make them appear nasty.
“She is gorgeous,” Chloe’s aunty and Mandurah resident Sarah Thomas told the Mandurah Mail today.
“She is actually gorgeous.”
Ms Thomas said what the viewing public were seeing was not the truth about the former local resident.
“I can’t understand the things people are saying,” she said.
“It’s devastating.”
Having known Chloe all her life, Ms Thomas said her niece was sweet and kind as well as a brilliant mother to her eight-year-old son.
“Chloe’s best asset, apart from being tall and beautiful, is that she is unflappable,” she said.
“She’s always been able to keep her cool and look on the bright side.
“I think it’s this quality that is getting her through.”
Chloe’s doting aunt said both girls were suffering from the negative reaction they had received with the pair reported to be avoiding social media in the wake of the furore.
“They were warned to expect a lot of flak,” Ms Thomas said.
“But Chloe always does the right thing and I’m so proud of her.
“The whole family is.”
Ms Thomas said while Chloe was down to earth, she did enjoy the “finer things in life”.
“But who doesn’t?” she said.
“What people are seeing on TV is not Chloe.
“Chloe is just lovely.”
