The second week of the 2014 men’s hockey season started with a game on Saturday with Coop 2 and Mustangs playing .
Both teams were again undermanned and Mustangs for the second week did not have goalie.
Brad Marley playing his first game this year scored 4 nice goals in the first half for the victors Mustangs, while Brendan Crowe showed his talents scoring 2.
After half time the heat got to the players and the score finished 6 goals to 3.
The first game on Sunday saw Patriots in their first game of the year up against a very young Centaurs green team with Greg Tomasini having a run for green. Patriots had a strong forward line with Jaydon Ellery, Clint Riley, Corey Old and Clint Gasperi too clever and powerful for Centaurs defenders. Nathan Barber and Greg Tomasini kept running all game while Daniel Miller tried desperately in goals.
In the last game the vets had a chance to make it 2 wins in a row, but Kyle Davies ran rings around the old blokes in the first half scoring 2 top goals.
The vets managed to settle down and the Shepherdson brothers did the running, while Darren Pike moved the ball quickly to Chris Michalak up forward who used his stick work and skill to score 3 goals.
The Centaurs defenders Brendan Gescue and the determined Mark Sloan stopped Vets on many occasions but weight of numbers was too much.
