Fate was incredibly kind to his wife, but unspeakably cruel to Malaysia Airlines flight attendant Sanjid Singh.
His partner had been rostered to fly on missing Malaysia Airlines MH370 almost a year ago and swapped shifts because a colleague wanted to fly to China.
But the 41-year-old Mr Singh elected to swap shifts at the last moment and work on doomed flight MH17.
"He always called us before he leaves for his trip," his father Jijar Singh told The Malaysian Insider.
“He told us recently that he swapped with a colleague for the return Amsterdam-Kuala Lumpur flight.
"Sanjid's wife was meant to fly on MH370 but swapped with another colleague at the last minute,” he told the newspaper
Mr Jijar, 71, told the paper he was heartbroken to have lost his only son in the tragedy.
“We are in such a state. My whole body is shivering,” he told the Malaysian newspaper.
