MORE than 30 men enjoyed a cooked breakfast organized by the Collie Church of Christ last Saturday morning.
Collie Church of Christ Pastor Robert Drown and Jim Weighell from the Collie Baptist Church invited Terry Dorrington to be the guest speaker.
Mr Dorrington has been a chaplain for 29 years, including five years at Claremont Speedway, 14 years at the Perth Motorplex and 16 years at Barbagello Raceway, Wanneroo.
He spoke of his experiences serving car racing families which includes conducting weddings and funerals.
He provides pastoral care to families associated with the sport. Many were surprised to learn that each racing meeting at the Perth Motorplex starts with prayer and the national anthem.
Troy Gaspeera brought his 1969 Monaro which was started up after the breakfast.
This was the first time the regular men's breakfast was held away from the Church of Christ property.
The breakfasts are held bi-monthly and all men are invited to the remaining two for 2014 on Saturday, September 20 and Saturday, November 15 at 7.30am.
If you would like to promote the events with a group, phone the church office on 9734 1361.
