THE attractiveness of Collie's western entrance will be boosted by a tree planting program this Saturday as part of National Tree Day.Collie Shire is co-ordinating efforts from local scouts and community garden and Rotary members to assist in planting tube stock just outside the town proper.Anyone interested in helping out is asked to meet at the Collie Visitors Centre parking area at 10am.While the national event is officially held this Sunday, organisers felt Saturday would better suit participants, with about 20 people expected to attend."We will probably do about 50 to 100 trees depending on how many people come down," Shire project officer Donna Davies said."They are all native species and are frost and dieback resistant."Mrs Davies said the planting would complement work the Shire had already been doing to beautify the town's western entrance, with amounts blackberry and westonia having already been removed from the area."The native species that have been planted in the area are designed around a colour palate where each season a different species will bloom with a different colour," Mrs Davies said.
