Men's hockey
IN the clash for fourth spot, both Vets and Centaurs Red had nearly full strength teams making the game one to remember.
A good-size crowd witnessed a close contest throughout the game with both teams' backline players in hot form.
David Ingram, Jason Cleggett, Ken Woods and Brenton Ingram kept many forward moves away from the goal.
JJ Pike and Chris Michalak were the main instigators of all forward moves for their teams and Mark Sloan for Red scored both goals.
However, keeping Michalak quiet has been a problem for teams for 20 years in Collie hockey and again he won the game for his team with a timely goal on the siren.
Patriots are cruising at the moment, waiting for finals hockey to arrive.
They had a good win over the inexperienced Centaurs Green team.
Dillion Saunders would be this year's most-improved player and continued his goal-scoring form with four goals while Phil Massara did his fairest and best votes no harm with a best on ground game for Patriots.
For Green, Jake Loxton and goal keeper Adam Johnson were best players.
The last game of the round was played between Co-op Gold and Mustangs.
With the teams evenly matched it was entertaining in the first half with four goals scored.
In the second half no goals were scored as injuries kept the game defensive in nature with Frank Chia, Adam Bignell and Tim Smithall on top of the forwards.
The difference between the teams was the running power of Blake Pullan in the midfield and the skill of Daniel Cherry up forward for Mustangs.
Intermediates Jack Mounsey and Gareth Old were good for Co-op Gold.
