HUGH Telfer and Morgan Scoffern booted the Navy team off to a terrific start on Saturday in the under 8s junior soccer with both boys scoring heavily in the first half. Despite Yellow team's defence rallying in the second half with offensive opportunities opening up allowing Oliver Lister and Rusti Pitchers to score some goals it wasn't quite enough to get them across the line. Best player for Navy was Saman Babaie and for Yellow was Rilee Myles.
The scores continued in the second game with five goals to Blair Scott and three goals to George Fuller playing on the Blue Team.
Cody Irvine chipped in with a goal for White but it was Deegan Cummings who showed great sportsmanship and persistence in scoring five goals for White before switching teams and scoring another goal for the Blue team who was missing a number of players this weekend. In the end it was the undermanned Blue who ran out the winners.
The first of the under 12s games had the Yellow team out-muscled by a determined and enthusiastic Orange team. Despite great effort by Teaghan Miles and Dylan King the scoring power of Liam Cain and James Woodhouse, well backed up by Paige Annandale, Orange ran out to a comfortable victory.
The final game of the day resulted in another close game between Green and Maroon with the first half closing at two goals apiece.
Bree Allen and Mary Marsh were the scorers for Green while Campbell Watt, Efran Babai and Hunter Stocks chipped in for Maroon before the ever reliable Zac Pilatti sealed the game with his typical flair scoring two further goals for Maroon.
Games for this weekend are under 8s at 1pm, Blue versus Navy at 2pm and Yellow versus Green. White has the bye. Under 12s fixtures are Green versus Yellow at 1pm and Orange versus Navy at 2pm.
Maroon has the bye.
