THIRTEEN Eclipse Martial Arts students travelled to Perth on July 12-13 to compete in the Sports Taekwondo Western Australian State Championship.
The championships were conducted over two days with the sparring competition on Saturday and the poomsae competition on Sunday.
The Eclipse students trained up to five days a week in the lead-up to the championships and the hard work paid off with some excellent results produced.
All 13 Eclipse students took part in the sparring competition.
There is always an air of expectation when the competition is on; sparring generates considerable excitement among both competitors and spectators.
The rough and tumble nature of sparring always manages to produce its fair share of tears, knock-outs, broken bones and bloody noses.
The poomsae competition is the more traditional and technical side of taekwondo. It was a strong performance by the Eclipse team.
They now need to harness the energy and confidence generated by their success on the weekend in training over the coming months as they build on their fitness and skills for the upcoming Australian Championships which will be held in Adelaide on December 5-7.
