A WILD storm lashed Collie and much of the South West region on Sunday night.
The storm caused vehicle accidents, uprooted trees, collapsed power lines and damage to private property.
A Collie resident was lucky to escape uninjured with little damage done to her vehicle when she hit an overturned tree in Williams Road in Collie around 10pm on Sunday night.
Power lines were down in Gastaldo Road while a tree fell on a utility vehicle belonging to Gavin and Tamara Hughes in Rose Road, Allanson.
Due to the severity of the storm extra Collie police were rostered on to duty.
Senior Sergeant Mike Dean and his personnel were out on the Coalfields Highway until 3am Monday morning supporting the Department of Main Roads and SES personnel to clear roads and assist traffic.
"An ambulance was rushing an emergency case from Collie to Bunbury Hospital during the height of the storm so we had to help clear the roads for the ambulance and other traffic," Sgt. Dean said.
More than 30 SES and 20 career and volunteer Fire and Rescue Service personnel from Bunbury, Australind and Harvey units worked tirelessly to help the community after a bad thunderstorm hit the south west region.
Damage was reported from the Perth metropolitan region to Bunbury, Augusta and Margaret River, with 58 calls for help since yesterday late evening.
Carey Park in Bunbury was worst hit with 32 calls for help.
