Fourteen students from Collie Senior High School participated in the inaugural RAC Pedal Prix at Busselton last Sunday.
With the assistance of Erik Mellegers, David Churches and teachers from the High School, the students designed and built these "Human Powered Vehicles" for the first event off its kind in Western Australia.
We believe that Collie Senior High students were the only Public School students to be able to participate in the event after a number of public schools had to bail out because the Department of Education had problems with the indemnity forms.
Fortunately for Collie the Chamber of Commerce stepped in and made sure that the students were not disappointed.
Twenty two teams riding thirty five vehicles raced around the track for six hours supported by hundreds of spectators.
Make sure that you visit the Chamber Website www.admin@colliechamber.asn.au to look at videos of the Collie teams participating.
Watch the thrills and spills as the teams battled with fast changeovers of riders, blowouts and crashes!
