WHEN the going gets tough, the tough get going and that truism was never more evident than at the starting line for the 84th Collie to Donnybrook and Return Cycling Classic.
The man with the microphone Gary Suckling beamed as he told the crowd the 99 entrants were enjoying the start of an old-style Donnybrook Classic.
PEOPLE will soon get a big welcome when they drive into Collie.
A new sign, which will read Welcome to Collie is under construction just before the Collie Visitors' Centre at the west end of town. The sign will include a 1.8-metre high stone wall and a 2.8m rammed earth wall, donned with steel lettering.
THE heavens opened over Collie when the town received 32mm, the highest rainfall for the month. The stinging rain was accompanied by strong winds.
On Saturday Collie had 13.4mm of rain and its lowest maximum for the month of 12.9 degrees. The minimum was 4.3 degrees and the strongest wind gust was 52km/h.
