Cohen Gum is an Australian artist with a penchant for exploring mental illness, using colourful almost cartoony illustrations. Poke Something That Bites is his new solo exhibition at the Nishi Gallery, and examines the exhausting process of living with an anxiety disorder. "Your daily routine is a calendar loaded with fear, worry, despair, complete mistrust in others; exaggerated scenarios played out over and over again, while sideline observers whisper 'crazy' to their friends," he writes. It sounds bold and intriguing. It opens on Friday, October 31, at 6pm. Nishi Gallery, Kendall Lane, NewActon. Poke Something That Bites runs until Tuesday, November 18.
