A man had to be treated in hospital following a drive-by paintball gun shooting south of Perth.
Police are seeking information from the public after receiving complaints of a group using a paintball gun to shoot people in the streets south of Perth.
Police were notified about the occupants of a vehicle driving through the suburbs of Rockingham, Baldivis, Bertram and Mandogalup between 6.15am and 8.30am on Thursday.
Police spokeswoman Susan Usher said the occupants were firing pellets from what was believed to have been a paintball gun from the vehicle.
"A 21-year-old Rockingham man and a 26-year-old Mandurah woman were injured as a result of being struck with what police believe to be paint ball pellets," she said.
"The man received bruising to his body and was treated at Rockingham Hospital before being released.
"The woman received bruising to her upper body but did not require medical assistance."
The vehicle of interest is described as being an older style white hatchback containing two or three fair-skinned males aged about 17 to 19 years.
Paintball guns are classified as firearms under the Firearms Act and must be licensed under the Act.
WA Police licence paintball guns to those people who are members of an approved paintball club only and the conditions of such possession do not permit paintball guns to be used outside the confines of the approved facility.
Anyone using a paintball gun outside the conditions of use is therefore committing an offence.
