THE Collie Library's Your Tutor service has won a National Leader in Education Services award by Tutoring Australasia.
The service gives students access to a tutor online after school.
Collie library has been offering the service since 2009 and it has shown results.
When students get stuck on a study question, a local tutor is ready online to help them get back on track and feel more confident.
Having a person outside the family assist the student can help alleviate stress in a household.
Students can get essay writing feedback and help with maths, physics, biology, chemistry, business studies and more.
The tutor provides one-on-one live, interactive, on-demand help with all core school subjects.
It is freely available and simple to use for all students from years 4-12, and in the first year of tertiary study.
All they need is a library membership card and access to the internet.
Your Tutor is operational from 4-8pm and students can log in from Collie Library's page on the shire website.
The shire also received a certificate of commendation from the Children's Environment and Health Local Government Report Card project for the youth strategies associated with the Collie Skate Park.
