WORK on the Collie Mineworkers Memorial Swimming Pool is nearing completion.
According to Collie shire chief executive David Blurton the pool should be ready by mid-March.
"Weather conditions delayed progress during winter - we lost a lot of time in winter," he said.
"The pool is more than 50 years old, so there was a lot of work to do.
"We have a contractor who is a real perfectionist and is doing a fantastic job."
"I'm confident Collie will have a lasting modern pool facility which it can be proud of," Mr Blurton said.
The $3.4 million project involved refurbishing the 50 metre pool, de mol ishing and rebuilding plant buildings and constructing a new leisure pool.
The original pool was being re-tiled, waterproofed and converted to a wet deck system, with a new access ramp, children's aqua play equipment, a meeting area and lighting to improve the amenity of the pool.
There are no plans to increase any costs to pool programs or entry fees.
