A GROUP of Collie children is one step closer to a summer time trip to remember.
Kayla Gibbs, Neva Goile, Noah Sutherland, Asheligh Gibbs and Zane Hanisch are raising money for a trip to Adventure World some of them are kids who have never been before. What started out simply as fundraising turned into an important life lesson about responsibility.
Mother Kylie Sutherland said the children had received $50 for Christmas and wanted to make the money count.
When they realised more money would be needed to cover the costs of visiting Adventureworld, the children decided to fund raise by washing cars.
"The kids were getting pretty worn out from washing cars so we decided to have a lemonade stand," Ms Sutherland said.
"You need permission from the shire the staff there were really helpful.
The kids managed to raise $200 on the day which gets them closer to their target amount.
"We had lemons donated, the mint came from Amaroo Primary and others made donations," Ms Sutherland said.
"We have received lots of support and it has really empowered the kids and taught them responsibility. We have such an awesome community here in Collie."
