THE crew from Free Run X5 teamed up with other free-runners and parkour enthusiasts for a trip to Collie at the weekend.
Parkour is about travelling from A to B in the most efficient way possible while freerunning is about expressing oneself in the environment fluidly and without limitations of movement.
Organiser Graham Hay said it was good to get the group together on a trip to an iconic part of WA.
“Collie has some great spots for free running and parkour,” he said.
“Its great exercise and promotes good fitness and a healthy lifestyle.
“You have to do a lot of training in a contorlled environment before hitting the streets.
“Those who are interested can train at the Ob-Fit gym in Bunbury.”
The trip to Collie included visiting locations around the town centre and then camping at Black Diamond lake.
Will Patterson has been training for three years and was inspired by the Assassins Creed video game series.
“You’re always learning and its a great way to stay fit,” he said.
“People generally don’t mind us - especially when they realise that we are harmless.”
Gavin Docherty said he had seen the movement grow from just a handful of people to hundreds in a few years.
Liam Gramery said the group would visit any location.
He said he had been perfecting his technique for five years.
