A bushfire ADVICE has been issued for people in the vicinity of Wellington Dam in the Shire of Dardanup.
There is no threat to lives or homes but there is a lot of smoke in the area.
Although there is no immediate danger you need to be aware and keep up to date in case the situation changes.
The fire started east of Wights Road and Bussell Road in pine forest. It is burning in a westerly direction towards these roads.
BUSHFIRE BEHAVIOUR:
The bushfire is moving in a westerly direction.
It is out of control and unpredictable.
WHAT TO DO:
Stay alert and monitor your surroundings.
Watch for signs of a bushfire, especially smoke and flames.
Be extremely careful when driving through the area.
Turn your headlights on and drive slowly.
Watch for emergency services personnel and follow their directions.
ROAD CLOSURES:
Wights Road and Bussell Road are being closed. Avoid the area and be aware of fire and other emergency services personnel working on site
RECREATION SITE CLOSURES:
No recreation sites are closed.
WHAT FIREFIGHTERS ARE DOING:
Fire crews are in attendance. Two fixed wing water bombers and two helitacs have been sent to assist ground crews.

The fire was reported at 10.10am on 26 January.
The cause of the fire is suspicious
People are asked to report any suspicious behaviour to Police Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
The Department of Parks and Wildlife is managing the fire.
