A $500 City of Mandurah community grant has enabled Calvary Youth Services to buy promotional pens and USBs.
Coordinator Lisa Dunne said the items would help get the crisis and transitional youth accommodation centre’s contact information out into the community.
“There’s no point giving a young person a pamphlet because it will go straight in the bin,” she said.
“But there is no money in our budget for promotional or useful items such as pens and USBs.
“The City of Mandurah really honed in on the idea of advertising material so it’s good to know that they were there.”
The pens will be included in informative welcome packs given to the youth which stay at the centre, as well as being handed out at events such as Homeless Person’s Week and Peel Youth Forums
The USBs will be given to youth who stay at the centre long-term and are part of Calvary’s Life Skills Program for them to store documents such as resumes, budgets and birth certificates on.
“I could not promote the grant enough,” Ms Dunne said.
“The fact that the City of Mandurah is there to help and they are more than happy to, that’s brilliant.”
