Spot fires are causing havoc across the region with Firefighters battling blazes north and south of Collie.
Volunteers Firefighters from Allanson, Preston and Collie raced to a fire next to Coalfields Highway at 4.16pm - taking less than ten minutes to arrive at the scene.
Collie Volunteer Fire and Rescue spokesperson Julian Martin said the fires were caused by the lighting strikes.
"A driver noticed the fire after lighting almost hit his car," he said.
"We are wetting down soil and raking the area to mininise the potential of flare-ups.
"Each lightning strike is a potential fire.
"If anyone sees a fire call 000."
Once the fire is extinguished the firefighters use a thermal imaging camera - donated by BHP - to check for hot spots.
