On January 22 Collie teens and children were treated to a Skate, Scoot and BMX workshop run by Freestyle Now.
It was the group’s first time running a workshop in Collie and Manager Shaun Jarvis said that he hoped to run more workshops in the area.
Mr Jarvis said that they teach various skills to children and teens who may be interested in the sport.
“We teach them safety, park etiquette, skills sets, self-confidence, social skills, and information about their apparatus,” he said.
The workshops are free of charge and they run at skate parks locations all around Perth and the Western Australian region
Mr Jarvis said that the workshops are relatively informal and are more about the kids enjoying themselves and learning a few tricks along the way than a formal how-to type workshop.
“We want to teach the kids more tricks, because more tricks equals more fun and that’s what these workshops are all about is fun,” said Mr Jarvis.
Freestyle Now has been running for 28 years and provides coaching, stunt shows, and competitions for people all over Western Australia.
