No Respect: locals awoke this morning to find Soldiers Park covered in toilet paper and debris.
The Shire of Collie CEO, David Blurton, expressed his disappointment that the area had been treated with a lack of respect.
"The Shire of Collie is dismayed and appalled at the vandalism that occurred this week in Soldiers Park and the new Skate Park area," Mr Blurton said in a statement.
"Soldiers Park Is not only recognised as Collie's premier park facility, but it is a tribute to fallen soldiers and is heritage listed. The new Skate Park is a state of the art precinct provided by Council for the benefit of the youth of Collie."
"It is an absolute disgrace that a some people undertake this mindless vandalism as a form of entertainment, particularly in an area with such cultural significance as Soldiers Park." Shire CEO, David Blurton said.
"This demonstrates a complete lack of respect for fallen soldiers and other users of the park. Cleaning up this mess ties up Council resources which could be better used elsewhere and Council and residents of Collie have had enough of this type of behaviour." he added.
"There are CCTV cameras in the park and staff will spend time analysing footage with a view of finding the culprits and prosecuting them."
