Mandurah mum makes appeal for son's stolen ashes

The young mother was devastated to find her Harper Court home ransacked on Friday morning.

"They just trashed everything," she said.

"There is literally nothing left."

Taken during the break-in was food, clothing, children's toys and shoes, toiletries, bedding and a television.

The thieves even stole every light bulb in the house as well as the washing off the backyard clothesline after accessing the property through the roof.

But Ms Cooke said she could live without everything except for a precious box she kept at the top of her linen cupboard.

Filled with mementos of her son Anthony, who was still-born in 2009, the box contained keepsakes as well as the tiny baby's ashes.

"He was my first-born," Ms Cooke said.

"Inside that box was all I had of him.

"It's like losing him again, and it makes me feel sick."

As well as Anthony's ashes, the box contained his hand and foot prints, photos, an ultrasound picture, a frog teddy, and a tiny loveheart pillow.

So desperate is Ms Cooke for the box's return, she has nominated a drop-off point for the box to be left – no questions asked.

"I don't care who took it," she said.

"But if someone knows where it is, they can drop it off at St Vincent de Paul in Mandurah.

"I've never begged for anything.

"But I'm begging now."
