The Lions Club of Collie has been busy organising its annual Biggest BBQ event which raises vital funds for childhood cancer research.
This year, 1400 Lions Clubs Australia wide hopes to raise a total of $500,000 for childhood cancer research.
The BBQ will take place on Saturday April 11, 8am to 1pm at the Federation Rotunda near the goods shed.
Lions clubs Australia have so far raised 4.5 million for child cancer research and are hoping to crack the 5 million dollar mark this year.
Lions are one of Australia’s largest service organisations which raise more than 20 million dollars per year for health, welfare and charitable projects worldwide.
Lions club member Helga Henke said the BBQ was a big fundraising event for the club.
“The whole club will be participating in the BBQ event in some way or another.”
There will also be a raffle for a trailer load of good quality fire wood, donated by Pine Hauliers.
The club will be selling raffle tickets in front of Reuben’s Newsagency on April 9, 10, 11, 16, 17 and 18.
