The Collie BMX Club has been busy fundraising by selling furniture to get the track up and running again.
The office furniture which was donated by Worsley will be sold off and funds go directly towards maintenance at the BMX track.
BMX Club President Ken Ingram said they did not expect to get so much furniture and they were very grateful for the donation as it was a great way of raising funds for the club.
Worsley also donated a grant to the club which Mr Ingram said went towards getting the power at the club reconnected.
The BMX club has so far sold about a third of the furniture, and has donated the rest to not for profit community groups.
Mr Ingram said that getting the club back in to working condition will be a long process, but he thinks it will benefit the youth of Collie in the long term.
“We are trying to get the club back up and running for the youth of the community,” Mr Ingram said.
Regular ‘busy bees’ held at the club have helped to slowly make progress in cleaning up the grounds.
The Rotary Club of Collie has taken a portion of the furniture to be sold at their fundraising garage sale this weekend, which will be held at the Scout Hall.
Collie Rotary Club President John Vlasich said the furniture will be going towards a good cause.
“We hope to raise money to be put towards youth projects in the community.”
Mr Vlasich said it was great that the BMC club was helping out the rotary club.
“It’s all about clubs helping out other clubs; I think it’s great that we can help each other with projects.”
“Any of the furniture that is not sold will be donated to the Red Cross, Anglican Op shop and Vinnies, so it is all going to go towards a good cause,” Mr Vlasich said.
