A man has died after being run over by a car whilst he was thought to be sleeping on the road in a town in Western Australia's north.
A 41-year-old man, from South Hedland, was driving a white Mitsubishi ute in a south-west direction along Mitchie Crescent in South Hedland when the incident occurred, according to police spokeswoman Susan Usher.
"The vehicle struck a man who is believed to have been lying on the road," she said.
"The driver of the vehicle stopped and rendered first aid.
"Police arrived a short time later and began CPR."
The man was taken to the Hedland Health Campus where he was pronounced dead.
