Last Wednesday participants from the Western Australian Disabled Sports Association were treated to some hot laps on the Collie Motorplex track.
Local race car owners volunteered their time to give the participants the ride of their lives, and teaching them about motor racing and safety.
The week-long camp was held in Collie, and participants took part in a variety of activities including; Frisbee golf, archery, and shooting air rifles at the PCYC.
The 35 campers and support workers came from disability groups in Busselton, Margaret River, Albany, and Bunbury.
Western Australian Disabled Sports Association Regional Development Officer Colin Holden said the camps focus on ability and physical activity.
“Everyone can do something, and we focus on this” he said.
It was the third year in a row the motor focused camp has been held in Collie, and Mr Holden said the group appreciated the time and energy the volunteers donated.
“Everyone with cars here today is volunteers; some have taken annual leave days from their jobs to be here, we are so grateful for their time.”
“Their reward is seeing how enthusiastic the participants are and the smiles on their faces,” he said.
