A clinical display of finishing from Busselton striker Martin Ryan was the difference between a title-chasing Busselton and Dalyellup Rangers in their men's Premier League clash on Sunday.
After being well held in the first half, Ryan ran rampart after the break with a hat-trick as Busselton won 5-0 away from home.
Ryan could have had another couple of goals as well but was denying first by a smart stop from Rangers keeper Bruno Canetti and then by the right-hand goal post.
The first half of the match was an arm-wrestle between the sides with both teams having several chances.
Dalyellup felt aggrieved not to have won an early penalty when Iain Geare was fouled in the penalty area but the referee waved play on.
Busselton looked dangerous down the flanks against Dalyellup and their persistence paid dividends when Mike Newell swept home a ball that had rebounded out following a goal-mouth scramble.
The Rangers had a couple of chances to draw level however Yea-chan Park failed to hit the mark with a shot and Basia Faso failed to connect with a header from cross and Busselton headed in to the break 1-0 up.
In the second half, with Danny Kane pulling the strings in midfield, Busselton got on top of the Rangers with Ryan's deadly finishing the difference between the two sides.
Dalyellup didn't disgrace themselves in the contest however, they lacked polish up forward and were unable to convert any of their chances.
Ryan's first goal came when he latched on to a long through ball and beat Canetti one-on-one and he had second when he won a somewhat 'dubious' penalty several minutes later.
Luke Wale then joined in the party for Busselton when he scored following a corner. A header from Danny Kane was blocked on the line by the Dalyellup defence but Wale was on hand to blast home the rebound for a 4-0 lead.
Ryan had several chances to notch his hat-trick and, while the first two were stopped, it was a case of third time lucky as he smashed home a shot from the edge of the area to round off the scoring.
The win sees Busselton move in to second place on the South West Soccer Association ladder while Dalyellup slipped to last place, on goal difference.
