THE weather may be a bit chilly as of late, but this isn’t stopping a local group of dedicated walkers from pounding the pavement.
The fitwalk group meets every Monday and Wednesday at Soldiers Park for their weekly walk and catch up.
The group was created to promote a healthy and active lifestyle and a healthy mindset within the community, and members bond over a mutual interest in leading a healthy lifestyle.
Group founder Greta Moloney said she originally created the group as a way to get together with other people who are interested in living a healthy lifestyle and to help keep motivated.
“Sometimes it’s hard to get motivated in the colder months, and this is a free community group that anyone is able to join.”
“We always have a laugh and a chat, it’s a great social activity as well.”
“And from a safety aspect it’s great when walking in a group at night,” she said.
Group member Ash Crowe said anyone who needs motivation to stay active during the winter months should join the group.
“Summer bodies are made in the winter,” she said.
The group walk around five kilometres in Collie each time, depending on weather conditions on the day.
The walk leaves at 5pm on Monday and Wednesday nights from Soldiers Park.
