THE Collie BMX Club held a busy bee at the Wallsend track last weekend, where members and friends helped with track maintenance and repairs.
The track is currently not in operation, although the club hopes to see it up and running in the near future once it meets BMX WA standards for racing.
President of the Collie BMX Club Ken Ingram said the general maintenance and repairs that has been taking place are all small steps in the right direction to get the track in racing condition.
“The track has come a long way since locals started a couple of years ago, and we hope to bring the track back to its former glory.”
“Collie BMX Club hopes that this summer will see the track reopened and kids will get to participate in this fun sport locally once again.”
Although progress has been made, Mr Ingham said there is still certain criterion that needs to be met before it is inspected by BMX WA.
“There is still works that need doing before the next inspection by BMX WA, our list is now considerably shorter than when we first started, and the committee would like to thank everyone who has helped and supported the club to get it to this point.”
Public are welcome to attend the Club AGM, at which the new committee will be elected, on August 4 at 7:30pm at the library under croft.
New membership will be available on the night.
