COLLIE locals have opened their wallets to support Camp Quality through the Lorraine Lea Party for Kids with Cancer appeal.
There were more than 1021 parties held across Australia and New Zealand, where people could buy Lorraine Lea products, with all profits donated.
Three of those parties were held in Collie this year, which raised $1249.
Cassandra Bertolini is a long-time supporter of the Party for Kids with Cancer appeal, having been involved for six years.
As she recently welcomed a baby into her family, the cause is even closer to her heart.
“I do it because my kids are healthy,” she said.
The South West of WA represents a large percentage of people who need Camp Quality.
The money raised will help facilitate Camp Quality’s 2016 program of family fun days and camps, which are offered freeof-charge to more than 3000 children who have been diagnosed with cancer and their families.
“It’s a way of helping others whose kids have not been so fortunate with their health,” Mrs Bertolini said.
“It’s a way of giving back.”
Independent Stylist Kiri O’Brien was involved for the first time this year.
“I had three amazing hosts: Denny Vernon, Andrea Byrne and Amanda Davidson,” she said.
“I joined Lorraine Lea in March, leaving my business to be able to spend more time with my kids.
“So when the opportunity came up to hold parties for Camp Quality I couldn’t wait to jump on board and help out.”
Mrs O’Brien said people had been really supportive of the concept.
“The parties had more than 25 guests and people love to support the cause, especially when that means also getting some homewares as well.
“It’s such an amazing cause very close to my heart.
"We are fortunate to have three healthy, happy boys.
“We are a lucky country to have amazing causes like Camp Quality and they do rely on generous donations to continue to be amazing.
“Last week we also held a fundraiser for the South West Woman’s Refuge.
"Lorraine Lea is constantly giving back it is a very special Australian family company.
"I love being a part of it.
“I’ll be doing it again next year - I love it.”
