UPDATE: A woman was taken to Busselton Regional Hospital with a suspected broken leg after she was hit by a car on Monday morning.
Police are investigating the incident and suspect the woman may have been searching through her handbag while crossing the road.
EARLIER: Paramedics are treating a female who was hit by a car on the corner of Prince Street and Stanley Street on Monday morning.
The woman was struck while crossing the road about 10.45am and has sustained injuries.
Police are currently at the crash scene with traffic building up in the area.
Drivers are asked to avoid the area if possible in the meantime.
Witnesses at the scene told the Busselton-Dunsborough Mail the corner was "an accident waiting to happen" and that a crosswalk is "urgently needed" at the spot.
