Police have charged a former Wollongong Catholic school teacher with 21 historic child sex offences.
The charges stem from allegations the man interfered with a boy under his authority, up to 26 years ago.
Police from Wollongong Local Area Command investigated the allegations, prompted by information obtained from the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.
On Monday Wollongong officers arrested a 73-year-old man at Redfern Police Station.
He has been charged with nine counts of indecent assault while in a position of authority and 12 counts of homosexual intercourse with a pupil.
He has been granted conditional bail to appear at Port Kembla Local Court on January 5, 2016.
The offences are alleged to have occurred between 1989 and 1991, while the man was employed as a Brother and teacher at a Catholic school in Wollongong. The victim was a student of the school, aged 12-14 at the time.
