SHARON Thompson is the new face at the Collie Family Centre, and has some big ideas for her role.
Mrs Thompson started her position as the Program Manager of the Collie Family Centre last week, and is looking forward to becoming acquainted with the Collie community.
“My aim, and what I love to do, is support the community with their idea,” she said.
And this isn’t just one particular age group, I want to work with the whole community.”
In her previous role, Mrs Thompson worked in Port Headland as the supervisor for the West Pilbara Mobile Children’s Service.
During her 5 years in the role she ran the early years programs and drove about 1000 kilometres a week visiting remote communities.
Mrs Thompson is a Yamatji woman, a tribe originally from the Gascoyne region, and her husband is Noongar.
“We have quite a bit of family and friends in Collie and around here so it is nice to be closer to them,” she said.
“I am absolutely looking forward to my role here, and my door is always open.”
