MEN’S: Collie played Dynamo Dragons at Roche Park on Sunday, looking to continue their impressive winning streak. The experienced Daniel Kearney made his long awaited return to bolster the backline and provide calmness in possession as the hosts were faced with a number of key outs from the starting 11. Collie slowly grew into the game but a spectacular diving header from B. Malatesta sparked the team into full capacity and rallied to achieve a 3-0 score-line at half-time. The second half saw them pick up where they left off as The Power put on a possession and passing clinic as well as adding a further three goals. The final score was 6-0 and with results elsewhere going their way, Collie now sits just three points behind leaders Manjimup with a game in hand and a superior goal difference.
WOMEN’S: Collie Women’s hosted Australind’s B side in a tight contest which saw the two mid-tabled teams share the points in another nail biting encounter. The Power raced out of the blocks and secured the lead within the first 10 minutes when J. Smith added to her impressive goal tally. However, the Australind side was in no mood to simply hand the points over and equalised before the interval. The second half was a mirror image of the first with J. Smith adding yet another strike. But a couple of near misses would cost Collie the win as Australind added a second goal of their own, making the final score 2-2.
