A man will face court on Friday today for allegedly punching a policeman in the face after he crashed into the officer's car during a police pursuit.
Police say they attempted to stop his Holden Commodore showing false number plates just before 10pm on Thursday night in Hamersley but the driver ignored them and sped away.
Officers caught up with the car on Camberwell Street in Balga, before the man crashed into a police car on Wanneroo Road and collided into a bollard.
The 40-year-old tried to run before police apprehended him, where they allege he struck an officer in the face.
The policeman was taken to Joondalup Health Campus for treatment to his lip.
The man will face a string of charges, including aggravated armed robbery, reckless driving, failure to stop, and assaulting a public officer.
