COLLIE car enthusiasts are set to rev their engines for the Muscle Car Masters.
The event, at Collie Motorplex on Saturday, September 10 from 10am, is set to display some of the South West’s best high-performance vehicles.
The show, held by the Leukaemia Foundation and DBR Collie, will give attendees the chance to ride shotgun as drivers race around the circuit.
Coalcliff Plant Hire General Manager and DBR Collie driver Terry Massara said it will give people the chance to experience the thrill of race-car driving.
“Motoring South West donated the track to me, we invited as many cars as we wanted and we want as many people as we can to have a fun day and enjoy the day,” he said.
Mr Massara has also set his sights on this year’s Cruisin’ the West Coast Aussie Muscle Car Run, travelling through Perth and the South West from October 24 to 30.
The event will reach Collie on Wednesday, October 26.
He said the Leukaemia Foundation and Aussie Muscle Car Run went out of their way to support people in need.
“A lot of people need treatment in Perth and it’s pretty hard when you’ve got families separated and it becomes very hard for families to follow,” he said.
“It’s very special, in my view, to help someone else in need because we all take it for granted but when people are in need we have to help.”
Mr Massara and Eric Gemignani raced in the Aussie Muscle Car Run last year.
Mr Massara said he and the other participants had the motivation to follow their passion for the worthy cause.
Leukaemia Foundation WA General Manager Andrew York said the foundation hoped to re-capture the same level of success as last year’s event.
“The inaugural WA event last year was a great success, with over $207,000 being raised,” he said
“This year we hope to fill 35 car places and once again raise over $200,000.
“We invite car clubs and car owners to sign up and register for the run this year. It is an iconic event for car owners from this era and with places limited, it is an event not to be missed.”
