THE Power travelled to Australind last Wednesday for a night game against Dalyellup.
The game started off in the worst possible manner for Collie as both starting forwards, Jovan Duricic and Robbie Milligan, exited the game early on.
Shortly after, the misery piled on as Dalyellup were able to score and go 1-0 up.
Collies’ hope of maintaining top spot looked all but over.
However, Aaron Roberts was on hand to equalise with a superb half volleyed effort.
This gave Collie the resurgence of energy they needed and shortly after, Roberts and Blair Malatesta were able to put a second and third away to give Collie a strong 3-1 lead at half-time.
The Power dominated the second half creating chance after chance with Malatesta adding a second of his own, as well as Daniel Kearney and Dante Kenning who also got in on the action.
Although the evening was not without its difficulties, the 6-1 win ensures Collie remains on the top of the ladder.
The following Sunday saw the women’s team win via forfeit against Margaret River, however the men’s team were in away action once again, this time against Dragons down in Bunbury.
Nerves were high as Collie was missing a large number of starting players.
An early goal from Blair Malatesta did enough to settle those nerves though.
The score at half-time was 1-0.
Jac Hollins made it 2-0 early in the second half and as the defence stood firm, Dante Kenning finished off an excellent counter to bag a third goal.
Lastly, thanks to a wonderful delivery from Blair Malatesta, Hayden DeAngelis climbed highest to deliver the knockout blow in the form of a power header.
The final score of the day was 4-0 and thanks to results elsewhere, Collie Power now has a commanding five-point lead at the top of the ladder.
However, with a couple of dangerous games yet to play, it could still come down to the very last day of the competition.
For their next match Collie Power take on Eaton-Dardanup on away turf this Sunday, August 21.
