VALLEYVIEW Residence has called on the community to help fund two projects at the aged care premises.
The first part of the project is to install solar panels, which have partially been funded by a Royalties for Regions grant.
RiverView Board member and project coordinator Ken Burgess said by getting the money upfront they can progress with the project straight away.
“With the help of the Collie People we can get the money up front and don’t have to save it, and the projects can get done straight away,” he said.
“We are hoping the solar panels will reduce the power usage by 40 per cent, then the money we are saving can be put back into other things.”
The idea is that individuals, businesses or groups loan $1000 (interest free) to ValleyView, and they will be paid back one at a time through a monthly ballot basis.
The second part of the project is to replace the current ute, with a new one that will be purchased locally.
So far the group has raised $22,000, of their $54,000 target.
